Beauty & Ugliness
The most awesome airport. Palm Springs, California
Now tell me, is this not the ugliest thing one can do to the beauty of these mountains? When Ted Kennedy was alive he was all gung ho about wind power, so long as it wasn't in HIS backyard. Why? Because they're ugly. They destroy the beauty of nature.

Decorating for the Holidays
Some people just put out a few pumpkins, maybe a flag and a witch while others go all out.
The owner of the house actually went to a plane junkyard and bought a wrecked plane. I don't know where he's keeping it after Halloween.
A passenger
Pilot and co-pilot
And one must have a hearse....
and a graveyard
Aliens have landed
Jack Nicholson or Beatlejuice?

Make A Difference Day..
...is next Saturday. Consider reading to a child. Children who are read to, especially by their parents, are smarter than those who are not read to. Reading makes a difference.
Plus Nathan Fillian is hot. What's Nathian Fillian have to do with reading? Nathan co-founded Kids Need to Read http://kidsneedtoread.org/

Frédéric François Chopin died 160 years ago today at the Place Vendôme. Before the funeral, pursuant to Chopin's dying wish (which stemmed from a fear of being buried alive), his heart was removed and preserved in alcohol, perhaps brandy. His sister later took it in an urn to Warsaw, where it was sealed within a pillar of the Holy Cross Church on Krakowskie Przedmieście, beneath an inscription from Matthew VI:21: "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Chopin's heart has remained there—except for a period during World War II, when it was removed for safekeeping—within the church that was rebuilt after its virtual destruction during the 1944 Warsaw Uprising.
Chopin was buried, in accordance with his wishes, at Père Lachaise Cemetery.
The church stands only a short distance from Chopin's last Polish residence, the Krasinski Palace at Krakowski Przedmeiscie 5.

Grand Canyon - Hermit's Rest
Hermit's rest is a structure built in 1914 at the western end of Hermit Road in Grand Canyon Village on the south rim of the Canyon.
This westernmost viewpoint and Hermit Trail, which descends from it, were named for "hermit" Louis Boucher, a 19th-century French-Canadian prospector who had a number of mining claims and a roughly built home down in the canyon. Views from here include Hermit Rapids and the towering cliffs of the Supai and Redwall formations.

Sailing
These pictures were taken with my smaller camera, a Sony DSC-W5. The zoom feature is not as good as my DSC-H7 but the camera is much smaller and easier to carry around. I love October in the south. Still warm but the tourists have gone home so there are no crowds at the beach.
This is not much of a beach, but they have a small parking area and it's free.
